Your Questions, Answered

How long is the TopKid program?

The TopKid program lasts for 2 weeks-starting with a kickoff in the school and ending with the final fundraising event.

Why does TopKid need to be in the school?

In order to teach kids the success skills and character traits that will help them, we need to meet them where they are most likely to learn-in their classroom. This also allows teachers to hear and contribute to the lessons, tying them to teachings they're already working on in class.

How much more can my PTA/PTO expect to earn?

Schools have earned at a minimum 60% more fundraising dollars with the TopKid program. Expenses vary depending on what event schools choose, however every school should expect to make more than they would on their own.

How do you motivate students to participate?

Many students want to participate and get excited when they learn how money raised goes back to their own school. TopKid also works with teachers to give class prizes-such as extra recess or bringing a toy to class-rather than individual prizes.

Individual prizes are mostly cheap clutter that families end up throwing away.
Class prizes promote a sense of team and community, and are more meaningful and memorable for students.

What do parents need to do?

As much or as little as you want-TopKid takes care of everything! For younger kids, parents can help them know who to ask for donations and how to share their donation link. Parents also have the opportunity to volunteer at the event if they'd like to be involved.

About Us

Born from Real PTA Frustration

Hi, I'm Michael, founder and owner of TopKid. I'm a former Evening Street Elementary PTA President and current youth soccer coach.

The idea for TopKid came about as all good ideas do-slowly, then all at once. As a coach, I've seen first-hand the impact positive adult role models can make in kids' lives. I've witnessed how education, accountability, and true support empower children to be successful in whatever they choose to accomplish.

My time on the PTA introduced me to many people in similar positions around central Ohio. I heard the same frustrations repeatedly: having to ask the same parents to help every time, kids being uninterested or unaware of fundraising, too many events, stale ideas.

TopKid was created at the confluence of these problems. I truly believe kids, in their nature, are proud of their school and want to be given the opportunity to help fundraise. Our job is to find and give them that motivation, education, support, and direction.
